Taylor, MI.: Beat the Heat Downriver!

Keep Your Cool!

Cooling Tips!

Welcome to Downriver! It is proving to be one of the more warm summers this year, so your friends at Expert Heating & Cooling have researched some cooling tips we hope you will find refreshing in and around your home!

Set your ceiling fans to rotate counter-clockwise. …Then don’t forget to set it back for fall/winter. You will feel a difference. In the summer it will take cool air and push it down and in the winter it will take hot air and push it down into the room.

Keep your blinds closed. …Save up to 7% on your cooling bill and keep your warm comfortable and lower the room temp by up to 20 degrees just by drawing the curtains.

Be smart about your doors. …Keep them open during the day for maximum air flow. If not using a room, shut off the air conditioning vent and close the door.

Swap your sheets. …Not only will they feel and smell great, just by changing your sheets you can feel much cooler in bed especially if they are cotton and very light in color. Sleeping alone also helps but don’t turn that into an argument as that causes even more heat!

Don’t forget! Turn on your bathroom fans. …For every shower or just to rid the air of moisture. A clean, well maintained bathroom fan will help control humid air.

Turn off the lights…Heat produced from lights attribute to the hot in a room. It will be dark but you will feel marvelous.

Plan to use the grill…Plan to cook your meals outside to keep your kitchen chilled and your family comfortable.

Turn on a fan instead of turning on the Air Conditioner. …Keep ice handy and add it to a bowl in front of a fan for even chiller temps.

Focus on the temperature in your body, not the house. … Keep that ice close to make your drink cold, or to rub on your wrists if you are feeling steamy. Keep a damp washcloth in the freezer when you need to cool off fast from being outside. Better yet, stick your feet in a bucket of ice water for maximum results! Add a margarita (no salt you don’t want to bloat) if it’s been an especially exhausting day!
