Expert Heating & Cooling turns forty-three this year and Mark Angelotti celebrates Twenty Years of ownership! The HVAC company was founded in 1975 on the principals of quality, integrity and service. Bob Maharas and George Burns carried on that tradition until 1998, when Mark Angellotti purchased the business from Maharas following Burns retirement.
Angellotti was well aware of the growth potential having previously served as the Territory Manager for Carrier Great Lakes, Expert’s primary material supplier. Starting in a 2,400 square foot shop in Downtown Trenton, moving to a 4,200 square foot shop in Woodhaven while our newest building on Northline just west of Telegraph weighs in at a hefty 21,500 square feet. The result of these moves; business has expanded to serve a wider variety of HVAC services across the Metro Detroit area. The company has transitioned in the last 15 years from 99% residential replacement and service, to a mix of 55-60% commercial installation and service. The company has grown from 6 employees to approximately 70 in 2018.
Because of Mark’s previous distribution experience and relationships with other contractors and manufactures it has allowed him to create dealer-distributer round tables to solve manufacturer problems as a team. Fast-forward 20 successful years later as Mark Angellotti celebrated his 20th year of owning on of the most distinguished heating and cooling companies in Southeast Michigan.
An Allen Park native, Angellotti has continued to keep his roots “home-grown” residing in Riverview while his children grew up and eventually moving to Trenton in the past year to settle in for the years to come on the Detroit River. He also continued to keep the business close to home with Expert Heating & Cooling headquarters located in Taylor. Over the past 20 years Mark has become a prominent figure in the Downriver community. He has been heavily involved in Trenton Rotary with his presidential year to kick off on June 21st for the 2018-2019 year, as well as serving on the board of the St. Vincent de Paul foundation.
During this past year Expert Heating & Cooling donated a furnace air conditioner system for a St. Vincent De Paul foundation raffle. The raffle of this prize alone raised over $7,000 to help send intercity children to Camp. During the year Mark and Expert Heating & Cooling installed an HVAC system $45,000-$50,000 retail value for under $10,000 to establish a new facility for the Victory Gym, a 501c3 charity committed to severing veterans, first responders, and the community through physical activity, peer support, and connection.
To celebrate this fabulous accomplishment Mark’s daughter Alyssa, who works at the company in Marketing & Sales, along with her mom Janet, her brother, Alex and all of her co-workers set up a massive surprise party. Keeping with the hometown theme, they decided on Crystal Gardens, a venue close to their hearts and to their business. On May 12th, everything was set up perfectly and Mark was BLOWN away when he walked into the banquet hall to over 130 guests in attendance to make the night all about him. The party was a blast with everyone getting to tell their best stories about Mark and how much he means to everyone, without him the company and many of the party guests would not be who they are today. Everyone at Expert cannot wait to continue the adventure for the next 20 years!
